Health and Welfare
The African Angel Alliance’s Health and Welfare initiatives center on improving and enhancing healthcare and well-being for women and children in Kenya. Collaborating with the Plateau Mission Hospital, the emphasis is on caring for both mother and child, encompassing both pre- and post-birth stages. This hospital is well known as the birthing center for mothers not possessing the resources to be cared for in distant referral hospitals. We have been supporting this hospital as follows:
- Assisting in construction and furnishing of a lab and diagnostic center, allowing for C-section births
- Assisting in computerizing medical records
- Assisting in construction of a morgue during Covid
- Assisting in construction and conversion of electrical systems to solar.
Collaborating in partnership with Bethany Kids, AAA aims to provide mobility support for children with disabilities by assembling and outfitting wheelchairs for them. AAA will give small grants to pay for the wheelchairs for the children. In addition, Bethany Kids operates a staff of professionals who on a daily basis oversee the following:
- Clinics supported by local leaders and pastors who are involved with the families of disabled children
- Ongoing training for family members who provide physical and massage therapy for the children
- Clinics where individual wheelchairs are personally fitted to the needs of the child
- Assembly of the wheelchair kits imported from the US and Guatemala
- Counseling for mothers dealing with the cultural stigma of having a physically challenged child
Notably, this effort encompasses both the assembly and manufacturing of wheelchairs within Kenya, thereby contributing to local employment, local economy and accessibility for the children. Both of the above initiatives underscore African Angel Alliance’s commitment to improving the healthcare infrastructure and accessibility while fostering hope and empowerment within the Kenyan communities.
